How it Works
Learn a systematic framework for identifying indicators of deception and ethically obtaining reliable, critical information. Group activities, role plays, breakout sessions, individual learning exercises, and several rounds of video clip analysis will be presented via Zoom.
- Identify the common biases and personal desires that can influence one’s ability to spot deceptive behavior
- Establish a baseline and reliable reference point for identifying atypical patterns of behavior
- Recognize verbal and nonverbal indicators of deceit and learn how to spot clusters of deceptive behavior
- Identify and describe facial microexpressions and facial expressions of emotion
- Prepare an environment which promotes a cooperative state of mind in an interviewee
- Build and maintain meaningful rapport even during the most difficult conversations – and avoid the four-rapport busters that will put an end to any conversation
- Construct eight expert questions and sequence them to extract critical information
- Recognize structural differences between deceptive and honest stories
- Execute a three-part framework for managing your conversation partner’s emotional state
- Design and deliver "psychological bridges" that encourage anyone to open up and connect deeply
